Parent Help

Parental help is very much valued and appreciated at Heywood Consolidated School. Parents can help :

  • In the classroom with changing of readers first thing in the school morning or assisting the teacher
  • During athletics, sports or swimming programs – eg helping children to change quickly during the swimming program
  • Prepare lunch on the Special lunch days, or on  other catering jobs
  • Breakfast club – Wednesday and Friday mornings

If you wish to help on a regular basis, you will need to obtain a Volunteers Working with Children Check and provide a copy to the school office.

Heywood Consolidated Parents & Friends Association not only raises funds but also socially supports new parents. PFA members cater for school activities and generate fundraising initiatives. They also provide feedback on issues to the Principal. A PFA member is allocated a position on School Council allowing for PFA to have input into School decisions.

The PFA meets once per month at school. Pre school children are welcome and they would love to see some new faces. Watch the newsletter for dates and times.

School Council

The School Council comprises both parents and staff to oversee the organisation of our school. We have 13 members of School Council and each year, in March, four parent and two staff members are up for re-election.  School Council looks at the operational business of the school. It is a great opportunity to learn about the inner workings behind funding and how the school works.  There are also sub-committees which utilise parent involvement – you don’t need to be on School Council to participate.
